ACCEF School 1 Overview

ACCEF No. 1 Elementary School is located in Jiayou, Lingyun county, Guangxi Province in China. There are about 50 students from 3 small villages and one teacher in it. The teacher is paid by local government. Although the school building was so old and could collapse at any time, the students have been kept studying in the dangerous and dim school building for years on account of the tight budget. In order to let the students have a safe and bright classroom, ACCEF decided to donate 50,000 RMB to help rebuild the school. The total rebuilding budget is about 61700 RMB. The rest of budget will be sponsored by the county government and local volunteers.

Here're some pictures and documents showing how the school was rebuilt. The construction took about a couple of months (see the pictures). The new school was opened in July 2005.
