ACCEF School 4 is located in Ze-guo village, Xide county, Sichuan Province in China. Before ACCEF could help to build the new school, its old school building had collapsed in a storm. Luckily, it collapsed in the night and nobody was hurt. As there's no budget to rebuild the school, the students had to find temporary classroom here and there for a couple semesters. Their sad story was reported by Sichuan Daily (click here to read the report in Chinese.) and ACCEF found them to help through Sichuan Daily.
This is a very poor county. Many students' only food
everyday is just a couple patatos. Some students walk to school for 3-4 hours on
bare foot even in the winter as they can't afford to buy a pair of shoes. There
are 69 students currently and 2 substitute teachers in the school. Teachers are
paid by the town council. ACCEF donated 50,000 RMB to help rebuild the new school.
The total budget will be 277417 RMB. The rest of budget will be sponsored by the
local government and local volunteers.
